Pictures created by saving views of Cayley diagrams or
objects of symmetry from within Group Explorer. (Group Explorer
exports images in bitmap format, BMP.) Any windows shown on the screen
can have its contents saved this way by clicking on File | Save current

Group Explorer can also export three dimensional views
as VRML worlds. This means that if your browser has a VRML plug-in
(like Cortona)
then you can interact in 3D with diagrams from Group Explorer in your web
browser. Furthermore, as a Group Explorer user it's easy to create
such files; while viewing a 3D object, simply click File | Save as VRML
world... |

The foundational reason for Group Explorer's existence
is to make understanding group theory easier. As such, it is part of
the wider category of visualization techniques for group theory in general,
and can contribute to that area by being a tool for generating illustrations
for proofs. This link points to the "Mathematical Investigations"
tutorial, which contains a number of useful examples, including two proofs
that were illustrated using images from Group Explorer. |
