Links

The following links relate to things discussed on the Group Explorer web site.  If you know of a page that would go well here, please let me know (ncarter@bentley.edu).

Abstract Algebra Software

bulletGAP - Groups, Algorithms, and Programming (Computational)
bulletThe Magma Computational Algebra System (Computational)
bulletMAGNUS, by the New York Group Theory Cooperative (Computational)
bullet GROUP-LAB - Although this is an old DOS program (!) it is the only other software I've found that generates Cayley diagrams.
bulletSeveral pieces of software, e.g. Exploring Small Groups, Finite Group Behavior, et al. (Educational)

Abstract Algebra Visualization

bulletMarcus Pivato's Math 330 page

The link above is to the "pictures" page in Marcus's site, which has many visualizations of algebraic objects, concepts, operations, proofs, etc.  He does some Cayley diagrams.

bulletCliff Reiter's page on fractal Cayley diagrams

John Meier and Cliff Reiter have written a paper on computer-generated Cayley diagrams for infinite groups, and how using fractal concepts makes the whole group visible within a bounded region.

bullet Ron Knott's page about golden sections and platonic solids
bullet Maria Voloshina's braid group visualization applet

Classifications of Small Finite Groups

bulletMathWorld's Finite Groups page
bulletDavid Green's classifications of groups of certain orders
bulletJohn Pedersen's groups of small order page
bulletThe Mathematical Atlas' Abstract Finite Groups page
